I have an xxl sweatshirt from my daughter age 28 who died of
a brain tumor. I would love a teddy bear made out of the material
if possible.

Is there a design or words on the "body" of the sweatshirt
that you want placed on the "tummy" of the bear? If so,
what size is the design? If you can let me know this, I can look
thru my bear patterns and see what will work to give you a good
price estimate. I'll be happy to do this for you.

Hi Virginia! Just wanted to let you know that the package
arrived here safe and sound this afternoon. I will take a close
look at different layouts possible. A quick glance tells me that
it will need to be a rather large bear to "capture"
the logo on the front and that I might use some other fabrics
for the "snout", inside ears and paws. Not sure yet
it if will be gray "fleece", or pink or gray fake fur.
(I don't have any pink fleece on hand). Do you have any preference?
Also, I have solid black round eyes (but I believe with a XL bear
I would like to use the large safety-lock eyes (Blue or Brown?)
it might be a couple more days before I start on your project.

Hi, my daughter had blue eyes. That would be great. Do it the
easiest way for you. If you need more money let me know. You do
not need to have the whole logo if it is too hard. I am so excited.
Thanks for your help. Anything is great.
Best wishes Ginny

Ginny: I was hoping you would get the package before Thanksgiving
(in case you were having family over) so I guess it was worth the
extra $10 to ship. I am relieved that you like them. I liked the
big bear but it was a struggle to get it "huggable" without
being lumpy. I took the stuffing out twice before I tried making
an inner shell of poly-cotton. Then I hand-tacked the shell at the
feet, arms and head of the "sweatshirt". By the way, the
head is an "original" design! I liked the open "happy"
mouth from one pattern, but the rest of that pattern just did not

large
logo on the sweatshirt. So I studied the design and made up my
own happy mouth!
The personalized embroidery on the feet took another morning.
I'm sure you figured out the x and o were hugs and kisses. My
teenager thought "Rest In Peace" "RIP" morbid,
and my oldest daughter thought I should have had "Date Of
Death" "DOD" instead. I suppose I should have "consulted"
with my critics first. But the overall result is still a huggable
bear.
The dressed bear pattern is from "Homespun Heart" and
suggests terry cloth, so I felt the sweatshirt fabric would work
well, and it did. It was a pattern from the thrift shop, and so
was the fabrics for the clothing.
The two smallest bears I just designed from some graph paper.
The scraps I had left after that were no bigger than two inches,
plus the cuffs, neckband and bottom shirt band.
Thank you for trusting your sweatshirt to me! It was a challenge
and I am so glad that you liked them. My sewing room is such a
disaster that I couldn't find my business cards to send a few.
But I am always glad for referrals. Happy Holidays!

Thank you so much for the additional money! Here's a big hug
and kiss for you and the bears! The extra tells me how much my
efforts were appreciated, and makes it all worth while.
